Main Door Vastu: The main door of the house is the face of a human being. The main door should bring positive energy. You should follow the Vastu principles for the main door. Follow the proper “Muhurta” and Puja for installing the main door. There should be no Dwar Vedh or obstruction in front of the main door like a tree, an electricity or telephone pole, soil, a wall, a well, a stone, a trench, a generator set, a temple, an open drain, or any abandoned building, etc.

Vastu for Doors and Windows: The doors and windows of the house need a lot of care, as it is the main part of our homes. Apart from the external structure and interior decoration, many additional aspects need to be taken care of while planning and designing.
The basic principles of Vastu Shastra for doors and windows are as follows:
- It is according todoorVastu in the home if you keep as many doors and windows open as possible in the northern and eastern area of the building and avoid making doors and windows in the south and west direction to avoid the effect of negative energy.
- You should keep in mind that the main door of the house should be bigger and higher than any other door in the house. Make the main door even more beautiful to get good luck and prosperity.
- Make the doors and windows of equal size in all the rooms. Doors and windows in the north and east directions should be bigger than those in the south and west directions.
- Your doors and windows should be made of similar material, preferably teak or mango wood, as it is considered to bring good luck. However, avoid using neem wood and metal for the main door.
- The number of windows and doors in the house should be even, like 2, 4, 6, 8, etc., but you should avoid a total of ten or its multiples (count the doors and windows separately).
- The main doors of two apartments located face-to-face should not open towards each other. Such doors are considered extremely inauspicious and receive negative energy.
- Make all the windows ideally of an asymmetrical pattern and proportionate in height and length. You should avoid uneven shapes and inconsistently shaped windows, as these bring misfortune. Irregularly shaped doors or square-shaped doors are forbidden and are considered inauspicious.
- Do not make a door in the middle of a wall, though it should not be exactly in the corner either.
- Doors and windows should not make noise. Make sure the locks of your doors and windows are well-oiled and open and close easily. Replace broken doors immediately to avoid quarrels. If a door or window makes a creaking noise while being operated, such a door, along with the frame, should be replaced immediately.
- While installing doors and windows, it is important to make provision for cross-ventilation. Doors and windows should be installed in the building in such a way that maximum daylight enters and air can flow into the house.
