In palmistry, the nails in hand also reveal the activities happening in the body. Ayurveda doctors have shown a lot of interest in the examination of the nails on hands and their symptoms. Every patient may not know or remember which disease their parents were suffering from or due to which disease they died, but by examining the nails, we get to know about the hereditary symptoms.

No matter how carefully the nails in hand are taken care of, their form or effect cannot be changed even a little. Even if the Nails in Hand are broken for some reason or they are polished, their form remains unchanged. If a gentleman has short and wide nails, then no matter how much effort he makes to make them beautiful, the nails will remain short and wide.
There are four types of nails: long, short, wide, and narrow.
Long Nails—Long nails in hand are not as much a symbol of physical strength as short and wide nails. People who have very long nails are prone to chest and lung diseases, and this possibility increases even more if the nails are curved towards the back of their upper part, towards the finger, or across the finger. The tendency of this disease increases a lot if lines are formed on the nail or if there is a bulge there. Then the person cannot even control his illness, and he is surrounded by disease. People with long nails in hand are more likely to have diseases of the upper parts of the body, chest, and head.
Short nails—If the size of the nails is small or not at all, then it can be said with certainty that the functioning of the heart of the person is very weak, that is, he is suffering from heart disease. If the Chand (curve) is big in the nails in hand, then the blood circulation is proper, and if the nails are very flat and sunken at their original place, then the person suffers from diseases of the nervous system. If the nails are very flat and are bent at their edges or are raised upwards, then one should be worried about paralysis. Especially when they are brittle, white, and flat. This also tells us that the disease is in a very advanced stage. People with short nails are more prone to heart and lung diseases.
Spots—People who have natural spots on their nails get scared or get agitated easily. Their nervous system is very emotional. When the nails are full of spots, it should be understood that the nervous system needs to be thoroughly examined and reorganized.
Thin nails—If they are short, they are a sign of poor health, and very narrow, long, bent nails in hand cause diseases in the spine. One should not expect more physical strength from people with such nails.
Knowledge of mentality from nails—According to palmistry, people with long nails are less critical than people with short nails. They are humble, calm, and sweet-spoken. People of this type do not get into many arguments and settle their disputes peacefully. They are not particularly worried about ordinary things. They are idealists and are interested in songs, music, or other art fields, but people with long nails are dreamers and wander in the world of imagination. If they do not like someone, they do not even want to think about it.
If the nails are short and wide, the person has a critical nature, and such people do not hesitate to criticize themselves as well. They completely analyze whatever work they have to do; they are logical. They are not as impractical as people with long nails in hand. They make quick decisions and complete their work without delay. They are good at arguing, and if there is time, they are ready to argue for hours to prove their point. They get angry quickly and say whatever comes to their mind. They are not ready to accept things that they do not understand.
If the width of the nails on the fingers of the hand is more than the length, then the person is very quarrelsome and is ready to fight over every small thing. He has a habit of interfering in others’ work. If there is a fight between two people, then he also gets involved in it, and instead of ending the fight, he shows enthusiasm in making it worse.
If someone has the habit of biting nails, then it should be understood that he is of a nervous nature and gets worried over ordinary things.
According to the Garuda Purana in Palmistry, those whose nails are yellowish and break easily may be impotent. Those whose nails are crooked and have lines are poor. Those whose nails have spots and do not look good maintain their family by serving others.
According to the Garg Samhita in Palmistry, those whose nails are not of one color and are spread towards the front part of the fingers, or are like a shell, or appear torn, or are very short, are poor. Those whose nails in hand are clean and have redness are lucky.
According to Samudrik Tilak in Palmistry, nails that are red, smooth, and shiny like coral and raised a little like the back of a turtle are auspicious, and the person attains a high position. If the nails are very long, crooked, rough, sunken in the skin of the finger, and have neither sharpness nor shine, then the person having such nails is not happy. Those who have white dots on their nails do not behave well and live a life of subjugation.
According to Vivek Vilas in palmistry, if the nails are greasy and red, grow beyond the tip of the finger, and are halfway above the phalanges of the fingers of the hand, then they are auspicious. If their color is somewhat yellow, then they indicate disease. If there is some whiteness, then they indicate a recluse nature. If there are white dots on them, then they indicate wickedness. If they are like the nails of a lion, then the person is cruel. Those whose nails do not shine and are crooked and rough should be considered lowly.
Wide and square nails—Persons whose nails are very short and wide, and the tip of the fingers is round like a mace, such persons have good health, but due to their habit of quarreling and arguing unnecessarily, people remain troubled by them. If, along with such nails, the hand is hard, the thumb is large, the knuckles of the fingers are protruding, and the area of Mars is more developed, then understand all the symptoms of quarrelsomeness.
If the color of the nails is red and they are wide, square, and rounded at the sides, then the person is honest and says clearly whatever is in their heart.
Small and square nails—If the nails are small and square at the top and have become thin towards the bottom towards the root of the fingers, then this is a symptom of heart disease. Usually, they appear smaller on big hands or big fingers. If there is some blue color in them and a moon-shaped mark at the bottom, then these are symptoms of heart disease. Blueness in the nails indicates that the heart is not circulating blood properly, and when two or three symptoms of a single disease are found, then that disease is confirmed.
If the color of the nails is somewhat blue, then it indicates that the blood flow and circulation in the body are not proper, but if some blueness is seen in the nails of girls between 13 and 15 years of age or women around 45 years of age, then it should not be considered a sign of any worrying disease because at the time of the beginning and end of menstruation, many women get this blueness on their nails.
One should just carefully see whether the blueness is on the whole nail or only at the roots, and if it is on the whole nail, then it is a symptom of natural weakness, but if it is only at the roots, then it indicates heart disease.
Knowing Tuberculosis from Nails—In a person who has very old and advanced tuberculosis, the symptoms of tuberculosis are so visible that he looks like a tuberculosis patient from a distance, but in the initial stage, it is difficult to know whether it is simple weakness or leprosy or tuberculosis. The symptoms of the nails of a tuberculosis patient are given below to detect it.
In this, the tips of the fingers of the hand and the nail become thick and round. By seeing and touching, it appears that the tips of the fingers are round like a glass ball. In this, the color of the nails is blue, and attention should be paid to the color of the hands, the weakness of the pathological muscles, and other general symptoms. If the upper surface of the nail is round but the tip of the fingers of the hand is not round with flesh, then due to the weakness of the lungs and throat, they easily get phlegm, cough, or throat disease.
If, along with this symptom, there is an island mark on the health line, then the above symptoms are confirmed. The softness, tenderness, and gentleness of hands make them look good, but if the nails lack beauty, then even the goodness of hands is of no use. When the nerves in the body become strong, then vertical stripes appear on the nails, or some unevenness and roughness are felt. Smooth nails are a good sign. Smooth nails of healthy people are a good sign because the nails of healthy people are soft and flexible.
To consider health or ill health, three things should be observed:
If there are vertical stripes on the nails, then there is a disease of the nervous system. If the nerve-related disorder has increased in the body, then the nails will also not be that soft; they will soon start cracking, breaking easily, and becoming hard. If the nails in the hand are not properly attached to the flesh underneath them, then this is also a symptom of disease.
White spots on nails—When the strength of nerves decreases, one of its symptoms is that white spots start appearing on the nails. Sometimes vertical lines start appearing on the nails. The nails become hard and break easily and also start separating from the flesh underneath. If all these symptoms are present in large quantities, then it indicates that the nerve network has become completely worn out. Such persons are also at risk of paralysis.
Actually, whatever good or bad changes are happening in the nerves in our brain and body, their reflection is visible in the nails. If the condition of the nails appears to be very bad, then it should be understood that there is a special decrease in the nerve power.
